PRIVATE DAY HIKES
Available May 1 – September 30, 2022
Our private day hike tours include transporting your group on a bus to one of the popular Yosemite trails below.
For the day hike, you will have your choice of one of the following locations:
Wawona Meadow Loop – Easy
Distance: 3.5 miles (5.6 km) or 5 mile (8km) loop
Hiking Time: 1.5 – 2.5 hours
Description: This is a gentle walk along a wide, smooth trail. You’ll have a mild ascent on the first half of the hike and a corresponding descent on the second half. After your hike, you’ll relax and enjoy your lunch with plenty of time to explore the Wawona History Center.
Vernal Fall Footbridge – Easy
Distance: 2 miles (3.2 km) round-trip
Hiking Time: 1 – 2 hours
This is a short but moderately difficult hike. There is enough climbing here to make you sweat! A mile from the trailhead, the Mist Trail crosses a footbridge from the north to the south bank of the Merced River. You’ll get your first sight of Vernal Fall here, as well as pleasant views of the river both up and downstream. There are also bathrooms and potable water on the far side of the bridge. Here you will stop to enjoy your lunch amid Yosemite’s natural beauty before your return hike.
Vernal Fall Mist Trail – Moderate
Distance: 3 miles (4.8 km) round-trip
Hiking Time: 3 – 4 hours
You’ll find an excellent view of Vernal Fall from the footbridge at 0.8 miles (1.3 km). About 0.2 miles (0.3 km) beyond the bridge, the Mist Trail and the John Muir Trail diverge. To proceed directly to the top of Vernal Fall, follow the Mist Trail 0.3 miles (0.5 km) up a steep granite stairway of over 600 steps. Prepare for slippery footing and a tremendous amount of waterfall spray in spring and early summer (hence the name for this trail!). You will delight in views of Vernal Fall all along this stretch of trail and may even be able to see a rainbow in the spray of the fall. At the top of Vernal Fall, you can experience jaw-dropping views straight down the length of the 317-foot waterfall (please don’t cross the railings and use extreme caution while you’re near any flowing water or wet rock in this area).
Mirror Lake & Tenaya Canyon – Moderate
Distance: 2.4 miles (3.8 km) round-trip from the trailhead to Mirror Lake; 4 miles (6.4 km) to go all the way to the end of the trail in Tenaya Canyon and loop around
Hiking Time: 1-3 hours
There’s not a lot of climbing on this easy trail, much of which is paved. Mirror Lake is a seasonal calm lake located on the Tenaya Creek situated in the Tenaya Canyon. It is a pleasant walk, and about as close as you can get to the base of Half Dome, whose crown you can see reflected in the lake’s waters in some locations. Mirror Lake is also one of Yosemite’s most popular swimming holes. Enjoy your lunch in this beautiful and serene location before hiking back to the bus.
Sentinel Dome/Taft Point Loop* – Moderate
Distance: 4.9 miles (7.9 km) loop
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Hike to the top of Sentinel Dome and Taft Point Loop with us via our 360 Hikes! On this guided hike, you will reach the top of both Sentinel Dome and Taft Point, providing more dramatic views of the valley, including the top of El Capitan. And unlike Glacier Point, there are no guardrails. Welcome to the wild side of Yosemite National Park.
*Summer season only. Dependent upon opening of Glacier Point
$1,199 for up to 4 people
$160 for each additional person
