Horsetail Fall Reservation System Information

Have you ever heard of the Horsetail Fall Phenomenon in Yosemite? Imagine a waterfall that glows a fiery orange when the sunset backlights it. This unique fiery fall happens on El Capitan only in the winter at the perfect angle in the ideal weather on a perfect day.

Because this event is so unique and special, it attracts many visitors to a small area, causing traffic congestion, parking issues, safety concerns, and impacts on natural and cultural resources. As a result, on Friday, December 9, The Yosemite National Park Service announced that they would implement a temporary vehicle reservation system during the final three weekends in February 2023 for the Natural Firefall at Horsetail Fall event.

If you were planning on visiting the Firefall during your stay, the reservation dates are below, and you will be required to obtain your own if going into the park. However, if you weren’t aware of the Firefall and we’ve piqued your interest, our Yosemite 360 Tours will be heading to the park during the reservation dates. If you purchase a Yosemite 360 Tour with us, you will not need to reserve a pass to the Park for that day! Visit our Tours page to reserve your seat.

Temporary reservation dates are below and can be made at Recreation.gov:

  • February 10–12, 2023
  • February 17–19, 2023
  • February 24–26, 2023

As of now, reservations for entry to Yosemite National Park are NOT necessary or required for the remainder of Winter 2022, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter 2023. If this changes, we will be the first to update you. Just sign up for our emails to stay in the know.
