Meet Your Pitmaster: Kevin Bludso
Born and raised in Compton, California, Kevin Bludso’s passion for barbecue was ignited during childhood summers spent with his aunt, Willie Mae Fields, in Corsicana, Texas. There, he was introduced to the rich traditions of Texas-style barbecue, laying the foundation for his future culinary journey.
In 2008, Kevin opened Bludso’s BBQ in Compton, California, bringing authentic Texas barbecue to the West Coast. His dedication to the craft led to the expansion of his brand, including the renowned Bludso’s Bar & Que in Hollywood and an international location in Melbourne, Australia.
Beyond his restaurants, Kevin has shared his expertise as a judge on Netflix’s “The American Barbecue Showdown” and has made multiple television appearances, including on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and “Bar Rescue”. His recently published “Bludso’s BBQ Cookbook: A Family Affair in Smoke and Soul” offers readers a deep dive into his family’s rich barbecue legacy.
