Spring Hiking Tips

  • Dress in Layers: Temperatures can vary widely in spring. Dress in layers to stay comfortable as you hike through changing weather.
  • Check Weather Conditions: Spring weather can be unpredictable, and some trails may still have snow, ice, or be muddy. Always check the National Park Service website for up-to-date conditions.
  • Pack for Safety: Bring extra water, snacks, and spikes or crampons, in case you encounter snowy/icy sections on trail. Don’t forget a map or GPS device!
  • Watch for Wildlife: Spring is a busy time for wildlife as animals emerge from hibernation. Keep a safe distance and do not feed any animals you encounter.
